Even as police continue to question the accused in the Class 12 paper leak case, fresh revelations have emerged indicating that the Mathematics question paper was also leaked.
Investigators recovered the Mathematics paper from deleted WhatsApp chats on the mobile phone of one of the accused. Police are now searching for a fifth suspect who allegedly circulated the paper.
Earlier, during the Chemistry examination conducted on February 18 at St. Ursula High School in the Civil Lines area, the question paper had reportedly reached a student’s WhatsApp group before the exam commenced. Shockingly, answers to the questions were also shared in the same group. During questioning, the student named a friend, leading to further investigation. Subsequently, the Physics question paper dated February 16 was also recovered from the student’s mobile phone.
Following a complaint lodged by Secondary Education Officer Anil Dahiphale, police registered an offence in connection with the leak. The administrators of the WhatsApp group ‘XII’ — Nishikant Mool (45) of Mankapur and Farhan Akhtar (19) of Kamgar Nagar — were arrested. Police also detained Mustafa Khan Munir Khan (42) of Bhankheda and Junaid Ahmed (42), directors of Excellent Academy.
Although several chats had been deleted from the phones of the student and the accused, investigators were able to retrieve them using technical tools. The recovered data revealed that the Mathematics paper had been sent to one of the accused on February 21, ahead of the scheduled examination time.
Efforts are ongoing to trace the individual who allegedly forwarded the Mathematics question paper. Attempts to contact the concerned police station chief, Amol Deshmukh, for comment were unsuccessful.
