Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has introduced a free bicycle facility for students at its Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Educational Campus on Amravati Road.
The initiative was supported by former Principal of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Law School, Shrikant Komawar, who provided 10 bicycles after noting the difficulties students face while moving across the expansive campus. The facility was implemented by Finance and Accounts Officer Harish Paliwal under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Manali Kshirsagar.
Students visiting the campus from different districts for academic purposes often spend considerable time walking between departments and offices. To ease their commute within the campus, the bicycles have been made available free of cost.
Students can collect a bicycle after registering with security guards at the main entrance on Amravati Road and must return it to the same point after completing their work.
Director of Student Development Vijay Khandal and Registrar Raju Hiwse have appealed to students to make use of the facility.
Among those present on the occasion were Director of Internal Quality Assurance Cell Nandkishor Karde, Head of the Mathematics Department Ganesh Kedar, Dadasaheb Kokare, Nishikant Raut, Rajesh Ugle, Employment and Training Officer Bhushan Mahajan, Stores Superintendent Sanjay Bajpeyi, Prashant Dhanuskar, Nilesh Rotke, Shankar Thapa and others.
