Massive celebrations broke out across Nagpur after India national cricket team defeated the New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final to lift the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title.
Thousands of cricket fans poured onto the streets, particularly at Laxmi Bhavan Square and West High Court Road, celebrating the historic victory with flags, firecrackers and chants of “India! India!”. The area, which has become a popular spot for public celebrations in the city, witnessed jubilant scenes late into the night.
Fans also gathered in large numbers at Dharampeth, where enthusiastic supporters celebrated the team’s triumph with great excitement. Many praised the leadership of Captain Suryakumar Yadav, whose calm guidance throughout the tournament played a crucial role in the team’s success.
“The team dominated the match from the start. We expected a great contest, but India was dominant throughout, and the match became one-sided. It is a proud moment for every citizen,” a resident said.
Another fan noted that India set a massive target for the Kiwis and proved why they are considered one of the best teams in world cricket. Supporters across the city celebrated the victory with immense pride and enthusiasm, turning the streets into a sea of tricolours.
