The national flag, which embodies the core values of courage, peace and prosperity for all, will be unfurled and dedicated to the nation by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Kasturchand Park ground on Saturday at 9.30 am. The flag mast will be among the tallest in the region at 200 feet, with the tricolour measuring 60 feet by 40 feet, symbolising unity in diversity, secularism and the democratic spirit of the Indian Constitution.
The memorial has been designed by US-based architect Shantanu Bhalla, and the project execution was led by architect Shantanu Bajaj. Collector Itankar made special efforts to see the project through with support from Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari.
The project was first envisioned in 2009 by Dr Vijay Darda, and its foundation stone was laid by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in 2016. Several ministers, MLAs and civic leaders are expected to be present at the event.
