In a late-night crackdown, the Ambazari Police busted an illegal hookah parlour operating at Gen Zee’s Café on Ambazari Road on Monday.
Acting on a specific tip-off, a police team led by PSI Avinash Nikalje, along with constables Baljit Thaur, Praveen, Kamlesh, and Subhash, conducted a raid at the café. During the operation, officials found several youngsters being served flavoured hookah, confirming violations of tobacco laws.
Following the raid, police registered a case against the café owner, Nikhil Pradeep Gawande (22), a resident of Ramnagar, Telankhedi, Ambazari.
He has been booked under Section 274 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 5, 6, 7, and 20 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.
Police officials said further investigation is currently underway.
