The ongoing conflict in Iran has begun to disrupt international air traffic across Gulf airspace, largely due to concerns over drone strike threats. In view of the escalating situation, direct flight services between Nagpur and Sharjah have been suspended until March 31.
Airline authorities said the decision was taken considering rising tensions and security risks in the Middle East. The suspension has caused inconvenience to passengers from Nagpur and nearby regions who regularly travel to Sharjah and other Gulf countries for work or family commitments.
Flight operations on the Nagpur–Sharjah route, operated by Air Arabia, had already been affected following air strikes on Iran on February 28.
The service briefly resumed last week, with flights operating on March 13 and March 15. During this period, aircraft arriving from Sharjah landed at Nagpur Airport and carried around 200 passengers from Nagpur to Sharjah. This temporary resumption provided significant relief to travellers stranded in Dubai and nearby areas, enabling them to return home.
However, amid renewed threats of further attacks, the airline has once again suspended the service until March 31. It has assured that affected passengers will be offered refunds or alternative travel arrangements.
Experts believe that if tensions in the region persist, disruptions to international flight services on the Sharjah–Nagpur–Sharjah route may continue for a longer period.
