In a major breakthrough in anti-Maoist operations, eleven senior Maoist cadres, including a Divisional Committee Member (DVCM), Area Committee Secretary, PPCM, Commander and ACM rank leaders, surrendered before the Gadchiroli Police and CRPF.
The Maharashtra Government had collectively announced a reward of ₹68 lakh on these cadres. Officials said the surrenders reflect the declining influence of Maoist activities in the region, now largely restricted to border areas of Bhamragad subdivision. With this, a total of 123 hardcore Maoists have surrendered since 2025, taking the overall number of surrenders in Gadchiroli to 794 under the state’s Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy.
Police attributed the success to sustained operations and rehabilitation efforts encouraging cadres to return to the mainstream. Senior officials including Special IGP (Anti-Naxal Operations) Sandeep Patil appealed to remaining Maoists to lay down arms and join democratic society, assuring a dignified life ahead.
