The Physical Education and Sports Department of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has announced its men’s and women’s karate teams for the upcoming inter-university championship.
The South-West Inter-University Karate Championship for both men and women is scheduled to be held at SAGE University, Katra Extension, Sahara Bypass Road in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
In the men’s category, Manas Raut will compete in individual kata. The kumite team includes Saransh Shahu (50 kg), Manas Raut (55 kg), Aryan Khobragade (60 kg), Ajay R Kanhere (67 kg), Hrithik Mudliar (75 kg), Sujal Bhange (84 kg) and Aniruddha More (84 kg). The kata team comprises Manish Barvekar, Manas Raut, Akshat Dharamthok and Ayush Patharabe.
In the women’s category, Pranjal Patil and Achal Bokde will participate in individual kata and kumite events. The kumite team includes Pranjal Patil (below 50 kg), Kritika Rathod (55 kg), Payal Kore (61 kg), Gayatri Avasare (68 kg) and Kajal Yelane (68 kg). The kata team features Sakshi Nagarkar, Trupti Lanjewar, Isha Maraskolhe and Rishika Niranjan, while the kumite team includes Sanjana Thakur, Anushree Patel, Chandni Vishwakarma and Bhavika Maraskolhe.
The teams will be accompanied by Hansi Dr Zakir Khan, Shihan Pankaj Khandagale, Shihan Emmanuel Phillip, Sensei Sachin Lokhande, coach Vaidehi Shende and Abhijit Bhende.
RTMNU Vice-Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar, Registrar Dr Raju Hiwase, Director of Sports Dr Sambhaji Bhosale and Principal Dr Vivek Awsare extended their best wishes to the teams for the championship.
