The Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar School of Law (BASL), under Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), will organise the 23rd edition of its flagship National Law Festival, Justa Causa, from March 20 to March 22 at its Nagpur campus.
The festival aims to provide a platform for students to showcase their legal skills while engaging with contemporary legal and socio-political issues.
The inaugural ceremony will be held on March 20 at 4:30 pm at the Law School Auditorium. Justice Abhay Oka, former judge of the Supreme Court of India, will attend as the chief guest. Justice Anil Kilor, Administrative Judge of the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court, will be the guest of honour, while RTMNU Vice-Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar will preside over the function. Justice Oka is also expected to deliver a lecture on constitutional values, the role of the judiciary, and emerging legal challenges.
As part of the festival, the National Youth Conclave titled The Nagpur Dialogue will be held on March 21 at 9 am at the Law School Auditorium. The panel will include Vaishali Hiwase, Commanding Officer in the Border Roads Organisation; Justice R K Deshpande, former judge of the Bombay High Court; and Vinayak Mahamuni, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, Nagpur.
The event will also feature the National Youth Parliament at Vidhan Bhavan, along with competitions such as the National Debate, Moot Court, Trial Advocacy, and other law-based contests. Organisers said the festival offers students an opportunity to present arguments before sitting High Court judges and gain valuable insights.
The festival will conclude with a valedictory function on March 22 at the RTMNU Convocation Hall. Justice Vikas Sirpurkar, former judge of the Supreme Court of India, will attend as chief guest, while Justice Nandesh Deshpande, judge of the Bombay High Court, Nagpur Bench, will be the guest of honour.
