A nowcast weather warning has been issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Nagpur on March 19, 2026, at 4:00 PM, placing parts of Vidarbha under a yellow alert for the next three hours.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph, and light rainfall at isolated locations in Akola, Amravati, Washim, and Yavatmal districts.
In a related development, hailstorms have been reported in two blocks of Buldhana district, raising concerns over potential damage to crops and property. The sudden weather change is attributed to localized atmospheric instability in the region.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid taking shelter under trees or in open areas during lightning, and stay indoors as far as possible until conditions stabilize.
