Nagpur witnessed light rainfall since early morning today, bringing much-needed relief to residents from the intense heat experienced over the past few days. The city had been reeling under rising temperatures, with the mercury hovering close to 40 degrees Celsius during March, creating discomfort among citizens.
The sudden change in weather, accompanied by cloudy skies, has provided a noticeable dip in temperature and a pleasant atmosphere across the city. While the rainfall was light, it helped ease the heat conditions and offered temporary respite from the ongoing summer spell.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a nowcast warning predicting thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and light rainfall in parts of Vidarbha. According to the alert issued at 08:30 AM on March 20, a yellow warning has been sounded for Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli districts, with wind speeds likely reaching 30–40 kmph. Authorities have advised citizens to take necessary precautions during this period.
The unexpected spell of rain is being seen as a short-term relief, as weather experts indicate that temperatures may rise again in the coming days. However, for now, the cool breeze and overcast conditions have brought comfort to citizens, reducing the harsh impact of the early summer heat and improving overall weather conditions in the region.
