After nearly seven years of closure due to floods, legal battles and a river-widening project, Krazy Castle is finally set to return with a fresh new look. A senior official confirmed that Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation will float an Expression of Interest (EoI) within a week, inviting private players to operate the 6.4-acre property near Ambazari Lake.
The EoI marks the first step in a two-stage process. Interested companies will assess the site and present their proposals, after which a formal tender will be issued based on the response received.
A World Tour Within Nagpur
MahaMetro has developed decorative facades across the property, each inspired by iconic global landmarks. Visitors will see replicas of the Taj Mahal, Leaning Tower of Pisa and Eiffel Tower, among others. One of the standout features is a striking three-tier East Asian pagoda, designed in classical Chinese and Japanese architectural style and illuminated in deep red hues.
A Touch of Disney Magic
Adding to the appeal, the park will feature a Disney-inspired castle with Gothic-style arches and statues of popular characters like Mickey Mouse. The aim is to create a space that blends the grandeur of world monuments with a fun, family-friendly atmosphere for both children and adults.
If executed as planned, visitors will be able to experience a “mini world tour” within a single afternoon in Nagpur—moving from the Taj Mahal replica to an East Asian pagoda and into a Disney-themed setting.
What Caused the Delay
Officials said the prolonged delay was largely due to severe flooding, which led residents to file a public interest litigation before the Bombay High Court Nagpur Bench. The case sought remedial measures as the Nag River overflowed near the park area.
A New Advantage
Earlier, when the park operated under Haldiram Foods International Pvt Ltd on lease from the Nagpur Improvement Trust, accessibility was limited. Now, connectivity has improved significantly. The Dharampeth College Metro Station offers direct access, allowing visitors from areas like Hingna, Wardha Road, Sitabuldi and Cotton Market to reach the park conveniently by Metro.
What Comes Next
The EoI will assess interest and gather proposals from potential operators. Based on the responses, MahaMetro will finalise the project scope and issue a formal tender. The selected operator will pay royalties to MahaMetro, with a share going to NIT, the landowner. Minor interior work, levelling and finishing touches are still pending.
After years of uncertainty, Krazy Castle is now close to reopening, with the city needing to wait just a little longer.
