In a move to strengthen India’s logistics backbone and boost industrial growth in central India, the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) has signed an agreement with the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) to develop a multimodal logistics park in the MIHAN Special Economic Zone.
Under the agreement, 19.92 acres of land have been allotted to CWC within the MIHAN-SEZ area. The project will feature advanced, technology-driven warehousing infrastructure capable of handling a wide range of cargo, along with integrated connectivity across road, rail and air networks to enable faster movement of goods. Officials said the facility will include modern storage systems and cold chain infrastructure for perishable goods and pharmaceuticals, a segment that is becoming increasingly critical to global supply chains.
Being located within a Special Economic Zone, the park will also offer single-window customs clearance, helping streamline import-export processes and reduce transit delays.
Strategically positioned at the geographic centre of India, Nagpur has long been regarded as a key logistics hub. The development of the park is expected to further strengthen this position by lowering logistics costs and improving supply chain efficiency—key priorities aligned with national efforts to boost manufacturing competitiveness and global trade integration.
“This project will not only benefit Nagpur but will act as a catalyst for the state’s economy,” officials said, describing it as a “game changer” in achieving coordinated logistics development between central and state agencies.
The project is also expected to generate employment opportunities across logistics, supply chain and allied sectors, benefiting local youth.
