Air travel at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport witnessed major disruption on Sunday, with several flights running significantly behind schedule. During the evening and late-night hours, at least eight flights to key destinations such as Delhi and Mumbai were delayed by over an hour, creating inconvenience for passengers.
Preliminary information suggests that the delays were caused by technical issues along with heavy air traffic congestion, which affected the overall flight schedule. Late arrivals of incoming aircraft further triggered a chain reaction, leading to delays in subsequent departures.
Passengers faced long waiting times despite arriving at the airport on schedule. Many expressed frustration and filed complaints against airline operators over the inconvenience caused.
Flights to Delhi and Bengaluru experienced delays of up to two hours, while Mumbai-bound services were delayed by approximately an hour. Additionally, flights connecting cities like Indore, Pune, and Hyderabad were also impacted, running 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule.
Unlike typical delays limited to a single airline, the disruption affected multiple carriers, including IndiGo, Air India Express, and Air India, indicating a broader operational issue at the airport.
