Dr. A. R. Sontakke, Director of the National Fire Service College (NFSC), announced that the institute plans to introduce new academic programs including M.Tech in Fire Engineering, MBA in Disaster Management and Fire Safety Management, Ph.D. programs, and diploma courses in Industrial Safety.
The annual ‘Agni–2026’ fest was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at NFSC, Nagpur, in the presence of international delegates, dignitaries, faculty members, and a large number of students.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sontakke stated that short-term professional and capacity-building courses will also be launched for fire professionals, corporate executives, and international officers. He added that the institute is expanding consultancy services and research in fire safety and is in the process of formalizing MoUs with Port Authorities, academic institutions, and industries.
He extended a special welcome to the Russian delegation led by Mr. Ivan Sergeev. He emphasized that the presence of international delegates reflects NFSC’s growing global outlook and its commitment to strengthening ties through academic exchange, joint research, and sharing of best practices in fire safety and technology.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed disciplined and energetic participation by students on the parade ground. The fest includes a variety of competitions and activities aimed at fostering personality development essential for professionals in fire and emergency services.
