A fatal hit-and-run incident in the Hingna area of Nagpur has left one man dead and a 12-year-old girl seriously injured after a speeding car crashed into their motorcycle and escaped from the spot.
The deceased, identified as Deorao Narayan Uike (55), was travelling on his motorcycle (MH-31-BS-9211) with his niece, Akshara Vijay Sarate (12), at the time of the accident. The mishap took place around 7:30 PM on March 23, 2026, on the Kanholibara–Khadki stretch near Takalghat, opposite Vastuland Developers.
As per a complaint lodged by Suraj Deorao Uike (28), a resident of Khadki, the car (MH-40-CX-3647) was being driven recklessly at high speed when it rammed into the two-wheeler. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, without assisting the victims.
The impact threw both victims onto the road, leaving them critically injured. Bystanders quickly shifted them to AIIMS Nagpur, where doctors declared Deorao Uike brought dead. The injured girl was initially treated at a primary health centre in Kanholibara before being referred to AIIMS, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Hingna Police have registered an offence against the unidentified driver under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act for rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence. Efforts are underway to trace the accused, and further investigation is in progress.
