Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appealed to citizens across the state to refrain from panic buying of petrol, diesel, and fertilizers, assuring that sufficient stocks are available to meet demand. He said the Central Government has repeatedly confirmed that there is no shortage of fuel, and the current reserves are adequate to fulfill monthly requirements.
Fadnavis noted that in several cities, people are unnecessarily queuing up at petrol pumps and purchasing excess fuel, which is disrupting the demand-supply balance and creating artificial shortages. He urged citizens not to crowd fuel stations and emphasized that such behavior could lead to avoidable difficulties.
Warning against malpractice, the Chief Minister said strict action would be taken against those involved in black marketing of petrol, diesel, or fertilizers. He also highlighted that the consumption of DAP fertilizer has surged by nearly 70% in the past three days due to panic buying.
Reassuring farmers and the general public, Fadnavis said that adequate quantities of fertilizers are available and there is no need to panic. He added that the government will initiate criminal proceedings against any suppliers found hoarding stocks or creating artificial scarcity.
