The Maharashtra Agriculture Department has issued a weather advisory warning of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds across several parts of the state between March 30 and 31. Officials have urged farmers to safeguard harvested crops to prevent damage from unseasonal weather.
According to the forecast, parts of the state are currently experiencing partly cloudy conditions, which are expected to persist through the week. Localised thunderstorms are likely to develop in the afternoon, especially in southern regions. These weather activities are expected to affect border areas of Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, and Vidarbha adjoining Karnataka and Telangana.
On March 30, several regions including Khandesh, Marathwada, West Vidarbha, and parts of Madhya Maharashtra may witness cloudy skies followed by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds, particularly during afternoon hours. Weather changes are also expected in the rest of Vidarbha.
There is a possibility of lightning strikes, gusty winds, rainfall, and even isolated hailstorms in some areas. Similar conditions may continue in parts of the state on March 31 as well.
In view of the ongoing rabi harvest season, farmers have been advised to closely monitor updated weather forecasts and plan agricultural activities accordingly. The Agriculture Department has urged farmers to store harvested crops in safe locations or cover them properly to protect against rain and wind damage. Necessary precautions should also be taken to minimize potential losses due to thunderstorms and hail.
