The “32nd Orange City Craft Mela & Folk Dance Festival,” organized by the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), Nagpur, commenced with great enthusiasm and vibrant cultural spirit. The inauguration ceremony was marked by the traditional lighting of the lamp by Shilp Guru Zahiruddin, Director Aastha Karlekar, and Deputy Director Mithila Talwane. Senior officials including Assistant Director (Programme) Deepak Kulkarni and Administrative Officer Deepak Patil were also present, along with heads of participating folk dance troupes.

The venue came alive with beautifully arranged handicraft stalls, showcasing the richness of traditional art and craftsmanship from across the country. The evening began with a collective rendition of Vande Mataram and the Maharashtra State Song, setting a patriotic tone for the cultural festivities.
The audience was enthralled by a series of captivating folk dance performances representing diverse regions of India. Performances included Gargalu from Andhra Pradesh, Dedhiya from Uttar Pradesh, Gudum Baja from Madhya Pradesh, Seharia Swang from Rajasthan, Lai Haraoba from Manipur, Beda Raas from Gujarat, and Ghode Modni from Goa. The performances received an overwhelming response for their authenticity, energy, and cultural richness. The programme was skillfully compered by Shweta Shelgaonkar.
The 32nd Orange City Craft Mela will continue until April 5, 2026. Visitors can explore the craft exhibition and food zone daily from 2:00 PM onwards, while cultural performances will begin at 6:30 PM. An entry donation fee of ₹30 per person per day has been set. Parking facilities have been arranged at Deshpande Hall on a paid basis.
Director Aastha Karlekar appealed to citizens to attend the festival in large numbers and experience the vibrant cultural heritage on display.
