Authorities have warned of legal action against educational institutions, including reputed schools, for failing to cooperate in the ongoing national census exercise. The warning comes after several institutions allegedly delayed or avoided submitting required staff data for census duties.
According to officials from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s general administration department, multiple institutions such as Bhavans, Centre Point School, and other prominent schools have not provided complete details of their employees. This information is essential for appointing enumerators and supervisors for the Census 2020 exercise.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar has taken a serious note of the issue and directed officials across all ten zones to prepare a list of non-compliant institutions. He has instructed that criminal cases be registered against those failing to comply with government orders.
Officials emphasized that participation in the national census is a mandatory duty, and any obstruction or negligence will invite strict legal action. Departments and institution heads have been warned that failure to follow directives may lead to prosecution under relevant laws.
The administration has urged all concerned institutions to immediately submit the required information and cooperate fully, as delays are affecting the smooth execution of the census process across the city.
