Following the completion of municipal elections across Maharashtra, recruitment drives have gained momentum in major cities. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is facing a severe staff shortage due to thousands of vacant posts, putting enormous pressure on the administrative machinery and causing delays in civic services.
Newly appointed NMC Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar has directed authorities to immediately initiate the recruitment process for 8,659 vacant posts. This mega recruitment drive will open significant employment opportunities for thousands of youth across the city.
For several years, retired employees have not been replaced, resulting in a critical manpower shortage — particularly in the health, sanitation, fire, and technical departments, where staff strength had fallen below fifty percent. Upon assuming charge, Dr. Itankar reviewed all departments and ordered the recruitment process to be treated as a top priority.
The drive will cover both third and fourth grade posts as well as senior-level vacancies. For senior positions, the administration has been directed to pursue deputations from the state government. The recruitment will be carried out in phases, covering both technical and non-technical categories, with official advertisements to be published on the NMC website.
Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) is simultaneously undertaking a similar mega recruitment drive, prioritising health and technical posts, making it a major opportunity for candidates across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
