In a remarkable achievement that has put Nagpur on the global map, a three-year-old girl named Gojiri Ajinkya Kottawar has become the world’s youngest person to hold an international patent. Her extraordinary research has given soap bubbles a never-seen-before three-dimensional geometric shape, breaking the age-old assumption that bubbles can only be round.
Gojiri’s innovation involves a specially designed base structure. When bubbles are blown through this base, they take various 3D scientific geometric shapes instead of the usual spherical form. The German government officially granted the patent for this invention on November 20, 2025. Following this, the OMG Book of Records officially recognised Gojiri as the ‘Youngest International Patent Holder’ in the world.
This achievement is no coincidence — Gojiri comes from a family deeply rooted in research. Her father, Dr. Ajinkya Kottawar, is a renowned inventor with 48 national and international patents to his name. Known as Maharashtra’s ‘Phunsung Wangdu,’ he has also been nominated for the Padma Shri award. He runs an innovative school called ‘Ubuntu’ in Yavatmal, where children learn through experimentation.
Speaking about his daughter’s feat, Dr. Kottawar said the idea came to him while playing with Gojiri, and he dedicated this research to her to inspire today’s youth to become innovators rather than merely job seekers.
