A tragic road accident late last night under the jurisdiction of Beltarodi Police Station claimed the lives of a husband and wife. The incident took place in the Purti Bazaar area when a speeding Kia Sonet rammed into the couple’s two-wheeler.
According to reports, the car was travelling at high speed when it struck the two-wheeler with great force, leaving both victims critically injured. They were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur, for treatment, but despite efforts by doctors, both succumbed to their injuries.
The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning.
Preliminary information indicates that the car driver, reportedly a bank manager, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Police have taken the driver into custody, and further investigation is underway.
The accident has once again raised serious concerns over drunk driving in the city, with citizens calling for stricter enforcement and action against offenders.
