The Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has announced a temporary suspension of platform ticket sales at Nagpur Railway Station from April 10 to May 30, 2026 (51 days), in view of ongoing construction work and anticipated summer rush.
According to officials, redevelopment work of the concourse area is currently underway by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) on Platform No. 2, which will remain temporarily closed during this period. Considering the likely increase in passenger footfall during the summer season, the railway administration has taken this step to regulate crowd movement and ensure passenger safety.
However, exceptions have been made for those requiring assistance. Platform tickets will continue to be issued, as needed, to attendants accompanying senior citizens, sick passengers, children, illiterate individuals, and women in distress.
Railway authorities stated that the decision aims to maintain smooth operations, avoid overcrowding, and ensure safety and convenience during the construction phase. Information regarding the temporary restriction will be displayed prominently at the station premises in Hindi and Marathi.
All concerned railway staff have been instructed to effectively communicate the purpose of this arrangement to the public and ensure that passengers, especially those in need, do not face any inconvenience.
