In response to numerous complaints regarding inflated and excessive water bills issued by Orange City Water (OCW), the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has announced a two-day, zone-wise grievance redressal camp across all ten zones in the city. Following correspondence between NMC’s Water Supply Department and OCW, affected consumers have started receiving revised and reduced bills.
To further address pending complaints and ensure immediate resolution of issues related to water billing, NMC will organize special camps in all zones.
The camps will be held on April 20 and 21 at Laxminagar, Hanuman Nagar, Gandhibagh, Satranjipura, and Ashi Nagar zones, while April 22 and 23 camps will take place at Dharampeth, Dhantoli, Nehru Nagar, Lakadganj, and Mangalwari zones. The camps will function from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
The initiative is being conducted under the directives of Mayor Neeta Thakre, with supervision from Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani Wakhare, ruling party leader Narendra (Balya) Borkar, and Water Supply Committee Chairperson Divya Dhurde. The camps are being organized under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar, with key roles played by Superintending Engineer Dr. Shweta Banerjee and Executive Engineer Shrikant Waikar.
To ensure effective implementation, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been issued. Wide publicity will be carried out at the zonal level, and local corporators will be informed through designated zonal delegates. During the camps, the presence of zonal delegates, civil engineering assistants, OCW zonal heads, and Service Point Managers (SPMs) will be mandatory to facilitate on-the-spot technical and administrative decisions.
Each complaint will be recorded in a dedicated register, and efforts will be made to resolve as many grievances as possible on the same day through coordinated action by the field teams.
NMC has urged citizens facing water billing issues to attend the camps in their respective zones and avail of the facility for prompt resolution.
