In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions and a Yellow Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Nagpur district administration has announced a holiday for all schools on April 18 (Saturday).
According to an official order issued by the District Disaster Management Authority, Nagpur, the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard students’ health amid rising temperatures across the district. The IMD has warned of a possible intensification of heatwave conditions, with temperatures continuing to soar.
District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, who also serves as the Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, stated that all government and private schools, including primary, secondary, higher secondary institutions, as well as colleges and coaching classes, will remain closed on the specified day.
The administration has urged citizens to take necessary precautions, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and stay hydrated, as extreme weather conditions are expected to persist.
