Passengers travelling on the Pune–Ajni Vande Bharat Express on Saturday evening alleged that expired food items were served onboard, raising serious concerns over passenger safety and quality checks.
According to complaints, passengers seated at C2 coach, seats 77 and 78, were provided snacks including chikki, mixture, and tetra pack soft drinks that were past their expiry date. The issue came to light after passengers checked the packaging and found the expiry dates had already lapsed.
The aggrieved passengers immediately raised the matter, terming it a serious lapse in onboard catering services. They have demanded strict action against the responsible catering agency and urged railway authorities to ensure proper quality control to avoid such incidents in the future.
Railway officials are yet to issue an official response on the matter.
