Nagpur’s Leader of Opposition in the Municipal Corporation, Sanjay Mahakalkar, has launched a weekly ‘janta darbar’ at his office. Starting this Tuesday, the sessions will run from 3 PM to 6 PM and aim to tackle citizens’ grievances amid ongoing civic struggles.
Residents have been facing persistent issues like water shortages and inadequate basic services. Mahakalkar criticized both the ruling party and civic administration for their failure to address these concerns. “People are forced to run from pillar to post without solutions,” he said. “This initiative is meant to ensure their complaints are heard and acted upon,” he added.
The opposition leader pointed out that the water crisis has worsened in many neighborhoods due to administrative inaction. He referenced commitments made during a general body meeting on March 20 when Mayor Neeta Thakre promised a special session dedicated solely to this issue. However, Mahakalkar noted that more than a month later, such a meeting hasn’t taken place, indicating a troubling lack of urgency.
The ‘janta darbar’ will provide an avenue for residents to voice their concerns directly and seek prompt solutions outside typical bureaucratic hurdles.
