The sale of Pakistan-manufactured Goree Beauty Cream has raised serious health concerns in Nagpur, with doctors reporting cases of kidney-related ailments among users. The cream, widely promoted on social media for instant skin whitening, is being purchased and used by many women without medical consultation, leading to alarming health consequences.
According to medical findings, the cream contains high levels of mercury, a toxic substance that can be absorbed through the skin and enter the bloodstream. Prolonged use has been linked to severe kidney damage. In Nagpur alone, at least 18 women have reportedly developed kidney disorders over the past two years after using such beauty products.
Despite the health risks, these creams continue to be sold openly in local markets. Acting on complaints, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted raids and seized a large stock of banned and unregulated cosmetic products. Samples have been sent for further laboratory testing.
The seized items include multiple foreign-manufactured creams such as Mallika, Jhalak, Goree, Golden Pearl, Chandni, Ujuba, Face Fresh, Noor Herbal, and New Face Beauty Cream. Other related products like Parley Gold, Goree soap, and Mallika Vitamin-C serum were also confiscated.
Medical experts have warned that such creams not only damage the skin but can also severely impact internal organs, particularly the kidneys, due to toxic chemical exposure.
The incident raises serious concerns about public awareness, as many consumers continue to use such products in pursuit of fairer skin. Experts stress that these creams do not provide permanent results and instead pose long-term health risks.
Authorities have urged citizens to avoid using unverified cosmetic products and to consult qualified dermatologists before using any skin treatment products.
