tThe Taxi Vahan Chalak Malak Sayukta Kruti Samiti, a union representing taxi drivers in Nagpur, has warned of intensifying its agitation if their demands are not addressed promptly. The union stated that drivers may soon suspend services across the city. At present, taxi operators have already halted services from Nagpur airport.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, office-bearer Deepak Sane highlighted the growing presence of bike taxi services operated by platforms such as Rapido, Ola, and Uber in the city.He demanded the immediate removal of the Rapido app from the Google Play Store and called for the discontinuation of Uber’s bike taxi option within its app.Among other key demands, the union has urged authorities to ensure that aggregator platforms update their applications in compliance with directives issued by the Regional Transport Office.
They also stressed that all drivers should be provided insurance benefits in line with the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2025.
