A shocking incident has come to light under the jurisdiction of Bajaj Nagar Police Station, where a 51-year-old woman allegedly died following continuous mental and physical harassment by her live-in partner. Based on the complaint filed by the deceased woman’s children, police have registered a case against the accused.
According to police sources, the woman, who worked at a reputed shop in the city, had been in a live-in relationship with the accused, identified as Shashank Gajbhiye (46, resident of Wadi), for some time. As their relationship progressed, the accused frequently visited her residence and often stayed with her. However, disputes reportedly began after he started suspecting her character, leading to repeated arguments.On April 7, an argument between the two escalated significantly. The accused allegedly assaulted the woman after dragging her from the bedroom into the hall in front of neighbours. Despite attempts by neighbours to intervene, he reportedly threatened them as well.Police said that the accused continued to mentally and physically harass the woman over time. Unable to bear the sustained harassment, the woman allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from the second floor of her apartment on April 10. She suffered serious injuries and was admitted to a private hospital.However, her condition deteriorated during treatment, and she later succumbed to her injuries.
Following her death, her children approached the police and lodged a complaint based on information provided by neighbours.Taking cognizance of the matter, Bajaj Nagar Police have registered an offence against the accused. Further investigation is underway.
