The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday evening announced the results of JEE Main 2026, with two students from the city—Madhav Notani and Omisha Jain—securing an impressive 99.99 percentile. Notani also achieved an All India Rank (AIR) of 91. Both students, however, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
At the state level, Maharashtra saw strong performances, with Madhav Viradiya and Siddarth Athaley scoring a perfect 100 percentile, placing them among 26 toppers nationwide. Another candidate, Yash Raut, secured 99.988 percentile, underlining the state’s competitive edge this year.
The NTA also released final ranks and cut-off scores for eligibility to JEE Advanced, with around 2.5 lakh candidates qualifying for the next stage, which is the gateway to the prestigious IITs. For candidates who appeared in both January and April sessions, the best score was considered for the final merit list.
JEE Advanced remains one of the toughest entrance exams globally, selecting candidates for approximately 17,000 IIT seats, making the competition extremely intense.
This year, a total of 16,04,854 unique candidates registered for JEE Main across both sessions, of which 15,38,468 appeared. In the April session alone, over 11.1 lakh registered and more than 10.34 lakh appeared, reflecting an attendance rate of over 93%. The General category cut-off has slightly increased to around 93.11 percentile.
The exam was conducted under strict security measures, including AI-based face recognition and 5G jammers to prevent malpractice. As a result, 113 results have been withheld due to suspected unfair practices or biometric discrepancies.
To ensure smooth conduct, the NTA coordinated with CBSE to avoid clashes with board exams and allowed rescheduling for candidates affected by disruptions in parts of the Middle East. Around 630 observers were also deployed to maintain transparency, along with an answer key challenge system.
Results for BArch are yet to be announced.
