In a major relief for patients and their families, the process of disbursing financial aid through the Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) has been significantly streamlined, with approvals now set to be granted within just eight hours—ensuring quicker access to medical treatment.
The revamped system was inaugurated by Devendra Fadnavis. A dedicated CMRF Cell has been established in Nagpur to facilitate financial assistance for medical treatment, particularly for economically weaker sections across the state.
Hospitals to Handle Applications
Until now, patients’ families had to collect documents and submit applications themselves to avail the scheme. The process often led to delays during critical times.Under the new system, the CMRF and Charitable Hospitals Assistance Cell will implement an online application mechanism.
Applications will now be submitted directly by hospitals affiliated with the Cell, removing the burden from patients and their relatives.Officials said the digitised process will ensure that approvals are completed within eight hours, enabling timely commencement of treatment.
Significant Disbursement Under CMRF
During the financial year from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, a total of ₹333 crore was disbursed under the CMRF towards medical assistance, highlighting the scale and importance of the scheme in supporting those in need. The new initiative is expected to further enhance efficiency, reduce delays, and ensure that financial constraints do not hinder access to urgent healthcare.
