A complaint has been filed against a woman who allegedly protested a traffic jam and shouted at Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan during a BJP rally in Mumbai, police said on Friday.
Zen Sadavarte has submitted an application to the local police, accusing the woman of creating a disturbance during the incident.
“She submitted the application late on Thursday evening around 7 pm or 7.30 pm. The local police are looking into the matter,” a senior police officer said, adding that he was not aware of the detailed contents of the complaint.
Zen is the daughter of lawyer Gunratna Sadavarte.
The incident occurred in Mumbai’s Worli area on Tuesday during a BJP rally organised to criticise opposition parties over the defeat of the Constitution Amendment Bill aimed at fast-tracking 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
During the event, the woman confronted Mahajan while he was speaking to reporters, alleging that road closures were causing inconvenience to commuters.
“Get out of here. You are causing a traffic jam,” she said, also questioning why the rally was not held at a nearby open ground.
In her complaint, Zen Sadavarte alleged that the woman created a ruckus, used abusive language, and caused a public disturbance during the rally.
