To raise awareness about excessive honking, a major contributor to urban noise pollution city-based ENT surgeon Dr Naresh Agrawal has released a rap song titled “Horn NOT OK Please.” The song has been specially created to mark Noise Awareness Day on April 29.
Dr Agrawal not only penned the lyrics but also performed the track in rap style and featured in its video, which has been uploaded on YouTube.
The rap video was inaugurated by Pravin Datke, who lauded the innovative initiative and called for expanding anti-honking and noise awareness campaigns in schools.
Highlighting the impact of noise pollution, the doctor said excessive honking can lead to serious mental health issues such as lack of concentration, reduced attention span, anger, restlessness, and sleep disturbances. It can also cause physical problems including hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), acidity, indigestion, high blood pressure, adverse effects on heart function, and even reduced fertility.
Others present at the event included Dr Subhash Raut, Dr Anisha Agrawal, Chetan Joshi, Dinesh Agrawal, Jatan Joshi, and Sheen Agrawal.
The video’s cinematography has been handled by Jatan Joshi and Chetan Joshi. Supporting organisations include Association of Otolaryngologists Vidarbha, HMAI, Prabhakarrao Datke Smriti Seva Sansthan, and Lions South.
