Amid a sharp rise in temperature across the district, the administration has issued comprehensive guidelines to safeguard the health of citizens, workers, and students during the ongoing heatwave. District Collector Kumar Ashirwad, who also heads the District Disaster Management Authority, has directed all departments and institutions to implement immediate preventive measures.
As per the order, all coaching institutes have been instructed to conduct classes only in morning and evening sessions. Classes between 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM have been prohibited. Institutes must ensure adequate drinking water and adopt necessary heatstroke prevention measures for students.
Colleges have been advised to avoid scheduling examinations and lectures during afternoon hours. In cases where examinations are already scheduled, authorities must ensure sufficient drinking water, oral rehydration solutions (ORS), and proper cooling arrangements inside examination halls.
Special instructions have also been issued for industries, factories, mines, and construction sites. Workers must be given rest between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and no labor should be deployed in open areas during this period. If work cannot be halted, employers must arrange shaded workspaces, ensure ventilation, and provide ample cold drinking water and ORS.
For hostels and student accommodations, authorities have been directed to provide adequate cold drinking water, intravenous fluids (IV), ORS, and cooling facilities. Necessary steps must be taken to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures during peak afternoon hours.
All government and private hospitals have been instructed to strengthen preparedness for heatstroke cases. This includes setting up dedicated cold wards, maintaining sufficient stock of medicines, intravenous fluids, ORS, and cooling packs. Hospitals are also required to maintain daily records of heatstroke patients.
The District Surgeon has been appointed as the nodal officer and will coordinate with health officials, including government medical colleges and private hospitals, to ensure effective implementation. Weekly reports on medicine stock and heatstroke cases must be submitted every Monday.
The administration has emphasized that all departments, institutions, and establishments must strictly follow these directives as part of disaster management measures. Citizens have also been urged to take precautions and avoid exposure during peak heat hours in Nagpur.
