Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s ongoing ‘Mission 100 Day’ campaign aimed at making the city encroachment-free will now receive full support from Nagpur Police. Police Commissioner Ravinder Kumar Singal has directed officials to carry out anti-encroachment operations efficiently during both day and night to speed up the removal of illegal structures affecting the city’s beautification.
A review meeting chaired by Dr Singal was held at the police headquarters in the presence of Municipal Commissioner Vipin Itankar. Discussions focused on removing illegal hoardings and encroachments from roads and footpaths. Dr Singal stressed that the drive should be conducted in a planned and systematic manner, with police authorities informed in advance about the action schedule.
He also instructed officials to involve the Regional Transport Office while taking action against illegal food trucks and modified vehicles being used for vending purposes. According to him, clearing encroachments would also help curb criminal activities in the city.
Dr Itankar highlighted several initiatives being undertaken under the ‘Mission 100 Day’ campaign, including the removal of encroachments from pavements, illegal constructions, dumped building materials and unauthorised hoardings. He said the drive aims to provide citizens with safer and obstruction-free pathways while ensuring hawkers can operate their businesses legally and securely.
Deputy Commissioner Mangesh Khawale, through a presentation, stated that the campaign’s primary objective is to free pavements from encroachments and ensure safe movement for pedestrians. The meeting was also attended by Assistant Commissioner of Police Naveenchandra Reddy, Additional Commissioners Vasant Pardeshi, Rajendra Dabhade and Shivaji Rathod, among others.
