Panic spread among visitors at Sitabuldi’s Fortune Mall after a lift reportedly malfunctioned and got stuck midway, trapping around five to six people inside.
According to eyewitnesses, those trapped in the elevator began facing breathing difficulties as the situation continued for several minutes. People present at the spot alleged that despite repeated appeals for help, the mall management failed to respond immediately or take quick action.
Sources said some visitors even urged authorities to break the lift glass to rescue the trapped individuals, but the initial requests were allegedly ignored. As time passed, concerns grew over the condition of those stuck inside the elevator.
Following protests and pressure from people gathered outside, the mall administration finally initiated rescue efforts. The glass of the lift was eventually broken and all the trapped individuals were safely brought out.
The incident has sparked concerns over the mall’s safety arrangements, emergency response system and overall preparedness in handling such situations. Several citizens expressed anger over the alleged negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible.
