The city witnessed a sudden spell of severe weather on Saturday evening as strong storm clouds and gusty winds swept across the region.Wind speeds exceeded 80 km/h as towering cumulonimbus (CB) clouds passed overhead, uprooting trees at several locations and causing concern among residents.Despite the disruption, the storm brought temporary relief from the intense heatwave that has gripped the region in recent days.
The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 43.8°C.According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the weather change was triggered by a north-south trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over West Rajasthan to the Comorin region, passing through East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, and interior Tamil Nadu.
Elsewhere in the region, Wardha recorded the highest temperature at 44.5°C, followed by Chandrapur at 44.4°C. Amravati and Gadchiroli reported 44.0°C each, while Akola recorded 43.9°C, Brahmapuri 43.8°C, Gondia 41.2°C, and Yavatmal 42.6°C. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious as weather conditions remain unstable.
