Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Maharashtra’s Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister for Nagpur has announced immediate financial assistance and rehabilitation measures for families affected by the devastating fire in Dhamangaon village of Bhiwapur taluka.
During his visit to the village, Bawankule personally interacted with affected families, listened to their grievances, and inspected the damage caused by the blaze, which broke out late in the evening amid strong winds. He assured that every affected household would receive ₹2.5 lakh through the Mining Corporation for house reconstruction, along with ₹23,000 immediate aid from the state government.
Additionally, ₹20 lakh assistance will be provided by the Koradi Shri Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Temple Trust, along with essential household utensils.Accompanied by Minister of State for Finance and Planning Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, local MLA Dr. Sanjay Meshram, and senior officials, Bawankule reviewed the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts. He praised the villagers for their unity and courage, highlighting that their timely response ensured there was no loss of human life despite the scale of the fire.
Authorities have initiated multiple relief measures, including distribution of food grains and essential supplies, medical camps, water tankers, and support for students through provision of books and uniforms. Special camps will also be organized to restore important documents lost in the fire.The minister stated that compensation will be further assessed based on detailed damage reports (panchnamas), and additional aid will be provided accordingly. He also assured free sand supply for rebuilding houses.
Appealing to the community, Bawankule urged residents with spare accommodation to temporarily support displaced families. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure swift and effective rehabilitation of all affected households.
