The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has announced a major rebate scheme on property tax payments for the financial year 2026-27. The decision has been taken under Sections 140-A and 140-B of the Municipal Corporation Act as per Resolution No. 20, offering substantial concessions to taxpayers who pay their dues within the stipulated period.
Under the guidance of Mayor Mrs. Nita Thakre, Deputy Mayor Mrs. Leela Hathibed, Standing Committee Chairperson Mrs. Shivani Dani Wakhare, Leader of the Ruling Party Mr. Narendra Borkar, and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin, the rebate scheme is being implemented under the supervision of Tax Assessment and Collection Special Committee Chairperson Sarita Kaware and Additional Commissioner Milind Meshram.
According to the announcement, property owners who pay their current financial year property tax online from home before July 31, 2026, will receive a total rebate of 15 percent. Those paying the advance tax physically at NMC collection centres during the same period will get a 10 percent rebate. The concession will be applicable excluding government taxes.
Similarly, from August 1 to December 31, 2026, citizens paying property tax online will be eligible for a 10 percent rebate, while those making payments at collection centres will receive a 5 percent concession.
Mayor Mrs. Nita Thakre has appealed to citizens to take maximum advantage of the rebate scheme. The initiative is expected to encourage timely tax payment and strengthen the municipal corporation’s revenue collection.
