The Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) will conduct open trials for its unique talent hunt initiative, ‘Bowlers Ki Khoj’, across various districts in the Vidarbha region.The initiative aims to identify and nurture promising bowling talent and is being organised under the aegis of the upcoming Vidarbha Premier League (VPL) Season 2. The trials will be held from May 9 to May 17.
Former India international and Chairman of the VPL Governing Council Prashant Vaidya, former BCCI Selection Committee chairman Chetan Sharma, former national selector Subroto Banerjee, along with members of the VCA’s senior, junior, and women’s selection committees, will oversee the trials and encourage aspiring bowlers, both boys and girls, to showcase their skills.The trials are open to male bowlers aged 16 to 25 years and female bowlers aged 15 to 23 years. The selection process will be conducted on-site at district venues.On May 9, trials will be held in Gadchiroli from 8 am onwards and Chandrapur from 4 pm onwards.
On May 10, trials are scheduled in Amravati and Akola from 8 am onwards, while Washim will host trials from 4 pm onwards.On May 16, trials will take place in Gondia from 8 am onwards, Bhandara from 4 pm onwards, Wardha from 8 am onwards, and Yavatmal from 4 pm onwards.
The final round of trials will be held on May 17 at Ramtek and VCA Civil Lines from 8 am onwards.Shortlisted candidates will be invited to advanced training camps, where they will receive specialised coaching, fitness guidance, and mentorship from senior professionals. Selected bowlers will also get an opportunity to be part of VPL Season 2, scheduled to begin on June 1.
Participants have been advised to report at their respective venues in white attire along with valid age-proof documents.
