The Traffic Police on Wednesday launched action against two private travel bus operators near Ganeshpeth bus stand for violating traffic regulations. The buses were found halting within restricted limits to allow passengers to board and alight.
According to the rules, private travel buses are prohibited from operating within the city’s Inner Ring Road area between 8 am and 10 pm. The restriction has been in effect since March 12. However, several operators continue to flout the order.
Police officials said the action was part of a special drive aimed at easing traffic congestion in busy areas of the city.So far, action has been taken against 34 buses for violating the rules. Authorities have warned private travel bus operators that strict enforcement will continue against offenders.
