A major change in weather conditions has brought relief from the scorching summer heat in Maharashtra, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing rain alerts for several parts of the state over the next 48 hours.
According to weather officials, atmospheric instability caused by a cyclonic system over North India is likely to trigger thunderstorms, gusty winds and moderate to heavy rainfall across many districts in Maharashtra.
Orange alert for VidarbhaThe impact is expected to be most severe in the Vidarbha region, where the IMD has issued an Orange Alert for Yavatmal and Chandrapur districts, warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity.A Yellow Alert has also been sounded for Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Gondia, Nagpur and Washim districts.
Rain forecast for western Maharashtra, MarathwadaRain activity is also likely in parts of western Maharashtra and the Marathwada region. Districts including Kolhapur, Sangli and Solapur may experience thunderstorms accompanied by rain showers.
In Marathwada, rainfall has been predicted in Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv districts.Humid weather to continue in Mumbai, KonkanDespite the rainfall forecast in several regions, humid and warm conditions are expected to persist in Mumbai and parts of North Konkan, officials said.
Authorities have advised citizens, especially those in Vidarbha, to remain alert during thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and lightning activity.
