Rail passengers travelling between Nagpur and Pune are likely to face inconvenience as the Nagpur-Pune-Nagpur Garib Rath Express has been cancelled for four days from May 15 to 18 due to infrastructure upgradation work being carried out by Central Railway on the Pune Division. Several other trains will also be cancelled, diverted, or rescheduled during this period.
The traffic and power block has been imposed for pre-non-interlocking (Pre-NI) and non-interlocking (NI) works related to the doubling project between Akolner, Ahilyanagar, and Nimbalak stations on the Daund-Manmad section.
According to Central Railway officials, the block is necessary to strengthen railway infrastructure and improve operational safety and efficiency. As part of the changes, Train No. 12114 Nagpur-Pune Garib Rath Express departing from Nagpur on May 15 and 17 will remain cancelled. Similarly, Train No. 12113 Pune-Nagpur Garib Rath Express departing from Pune on May 16 and 18 has also been cancelled.
In addition, Train No. 12136 Nagpur-Pune Special Express leaving Nagpur on May 16 and Train No. 12135 Pune-Nagpur Express departing from Pune on May 17 will remain cancelled.
Central Railway has also announced route diversions for some trains. Train No. 22845 Pune-Hatia Express departing on May 17 will run via Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Kalyan, Igatpuri, Nashik Road, and Manmad instead of its regular route. Likewise, Train No. 22140 Ajni-Pune Express leaving on May 17 will operate through Manmad, Nashik Road, Kalyan, Panvel, Karjat, and Lonavala under the diversion plan.
Meanwhile, Train No. 12221 Pune-Howrah Duronto Express departing on May 18 has been rescheduled and will leave Pune 30 minutes later than its scheduled departure time.
Central Railway has appealed to passengers to take note of the temporary changes while planning their journeys. Officials said the traffic blocks are essential for the ongoing doubling work aimed at improving safety and operational efficiency on the busy rail corridor.
