A Defence Security Corps (DSC) Junior Commissioned Officer was killed in a firing range accident during a routine firing practice at the Central Ammunition Depot in Pulgaon on Friday, defence officials said.
According to the Defence PRO, Nagpur, the incident occurred on May 15 during a scheduled firing exercise at the firing range of the Central Ammunition Depot, Pulgaon. The deceased officer has been identified as Subedar Major Om Bahadur Khand.
In an official statement, the Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area said the JCO died due to a firing accident during the routine practice session. The exact circumstances leading to the incident are yet to be ascertained.
Defence authorities stated that the matter is currently under investigation. The unit has conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the officer.
