Gadchiroli Police and CRPF have arrested eight Maoists, including senior cadres, in a major anti-Naxal operation named “Operation Antim Prahar.” The arrested Maoists were allegedly involved in the February 7 Fodewada encounter in which a C-60 jawan was killed.Police said the accused were arrested from Telangana during coordinated search operations.
Among those held are DVCM Raju Mangal Veko and PPCM Janli alias Nagi Yemla. Security forces also recovered a large cache of weapons including AK-47, SLR, INSAS and LMG rifles along with Maoist materials.During the operation, police seized 51 weapons and recovered ₹65.34 lakh in cash allegedly hidden by Maoists.
The Maharashtra government had announced a total reward of ₹64 lakh on the arrested Maoists.Officials described the crackdown as a major setback to Maoist activities in Gadchiroli and claimed that no active Maoist network remains in the Aheri division.
