The Election Commission has announced elections for 17 seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad), including the crucial Nagpur Division Local Authorities Constituency seat that fell vacant after
Chandrashekhar Bawankule was elected to the Legislative Assembly.
Voting for the elections will be held on June 18, while counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on June 22. The official election notification will be issued on May 25.
Candidates can file their nominations till June 1, scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on June 2, and the last date for withdrawal of nominations has been fixed as June 4.
The Nagpur Division Local Authorities Constituency election is expected to witness significant political activity in the Vidarbha region, with major parties likely to begin internal discussions and candidate selection in the coming days.
