The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a significant reduction in fees for post-result services, including obtaining scanned copies of answer sheets, verification of marks, and revaluation requests. The revised fee structure comes after students raised concerns over the high charges and the implementation of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system following the declaration of Class 12 results.
Under the revised structure, students will now be required to pay Rs 100 for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated answer sheets and Rs 100 for verification of marks. Earlier, students reportedly had to pay Rs 700 per subject for scanned copies, Rs 500 for verification requests, and Rs 100 per question for revaluation.
The Ministry of Education dismissed concerns that the OSM system had negatively impacted students’ Class 12 scores, stating that the system was not new to CBSE and that special care had been taken to maintain accuracy in evaluation.
“OSM is a norm followed internationally to conduct transparent evaluation,” School Education Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Sanjay Kumar, said during a press conference in New Delhi.
The clarification comes amid concerns expressed by students and parents, who linked the decline in the CBSE Class 12 pass percentage to the implementation of OSM. “The CBSE had introduced OSM in 2014. At that time, from a technical perspective, it was felt that continuing it immediately would not be feasible because of the existing infrastructure and setup. However, we have reintroduced it this year,” he said.
