The main cement road connecting Hingna to Samruddhi Mahamarg circle has developed large cracks at multiple points, turning a heavily used arterial route into a daily hazard for thousands of commuters.
The stretch is used by vehicles headed to Mumbai via Samruddhi Expressway, workers and students from Butibori Industrial Area, and residents of the Gumgaon locality. Yet the road is crumbling — and worse, a 50-metre patch between Hingna and Samruddhi circle remains in a no-man’s-land condition: neither cemented, nor asphalted, nor even properly earthed.
Two-wheeler riders have reported losing balance while dodging cracks and potholes, leading to multiple accidents. Residents are squarely blaming shoddy construction quality for the deterioration, warning that a major mishap is inevitable if urgent repairs are not carried out before the monsoon.
Adding to the danger, the Hingna road has no streetlights up to Khadka village, plunging the entire stretch into darkness after sunset — even as the Samruddhi Zero Point junction has functioning lights on the Nagpur, Mumbai and Amravati sides.
Residents are demanding immediate inspection by the concerned department and elected representatives, and urgent installation of streetlights before the rains arrive.
